I shop at the Cardiff Shop Rite only because it's closer and less expensive than Saubel's. The only complaint I have is the way I was treated by a young cashier who usually works the self-checkouts. Today was the first time I'd seen her working an actual cash register, which might explain why there was a supervisor there with her. What offended me was how she immediately grew impatient and talked down to me as though I didn't know what I was doing when the credit card machine refused to read my card properly. The cashier --- who doesn't look a day over 16 --- assumed it was my error and started barking orders at me, even though I was doing everything according to the instructions. She even went so far as to try to yank my credit card from me. Mind you, I'm 64 and this wasn't my first time operating a retail credit card machine. in fact, I've worked in retail using them. So, to have a teenage brat talk down her nose to me was over the line. And her supervisor was no better, noticeably avoiding me after that exchange, till the very last second as I departed when he finally looked up and muttered an awkward "goodbye" or something of the sort. I didn't report her, as I could have. But another incident like that and I won't hesitate to make a scene.
Love the staff. You get to know lots of them pretty well after a few visits. Their produce is priced competitively and is fresh as anywhere. Their meat department is first rate. If you watch the sales you can do very well even when considering the big box stores. The selection is very good. I love to cook and appreciate their selection of sauces and vinegar's. I have purchased their bay scallops time to time and even those are good and fresh. Oh...also great dairy department. It took a bit to get used to the new layout of the expanded dairy and egg department but now I like it just fine. They have more variety of cheese than anyone in the area.
LOVE the pharmacy people at the Shop Rite in Cardiff MD. They are very understanding and kind. They helped me with what I thought was a huge mess. They took their time and explained everything. It made the whole experience a lot better! They are always professional, willing to help and always with a smile.
